Our unique New Music degree course produces equally unique graduates: risk-takers with their own ideas who able to test the boundaries of sound and music.


Course Details

This BA (Hons) New Music is for musicians who perform, compose or produce and want to explore the rich potential of experimental music.

We welcome musicians looking to engage with a diverse range of musical styles and approaches, spanning contemporary classical, improvisation, electronic/electroacoustic music and noise.

This is the only conservatoire degree in the UK that focuses on experimentation and exploration of interdisciplinary practice, allowing you to engage with contemporary and free improvisation, work with live electronics or study other complementary arts.

£2000 Excellence Scholarships Available

£2,000 cash scholarships are available for 2017 New Music applicants who put Leeds College of Music as their first choice!

Facilities Open Until 3am

Our industry-standard studios and practice rooms are open until 3am in term-time, and by attending the only English conservatoire to hold the coveted All-Steinway status you will be practicing and performing on Steinway pianos.

During your degree you will also have access to our music library that contains more than 10,000 CDs, 8,000 LPs and 18,000 items of printed music.
