Jamil Sheriff

  • Curriculum Leader for Jazz.

  • His teaching specialisms are Jazz Piano, Contemporary Jazz Composition and Jazz Musicianship.

  • To date, Jamil has recorded four albums of original music under his own name, each of which have received national and international accolades – Daydreams (GLP 2003), Backchat (33 Records 2008), Ichthyology (GLP 2013), Places Like This (NJR 2016).

  • Jamil enjoys a busy performance and recording schedule, currently working regularly with artists such as Richard Iles, Neil Yates, Colman Brothers, Andy Schofield, Josh Kemp, Tom Harrison and Wild Flower Project.


Dave Walsh

  • Curriculum Coordinator and Principal Lecturer for Jazz

  • Dave has recorded on over 60 albums and features on many remixes over the years

  • He works in many different genres and with various artists, including singer/songwriter Tom MacRae, international guitarist Stuart McCallum, and Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi.

  • Other commercial work over the past few years has included working with writer/producer Graham Massey and being an integral member of "Toolshed". This project has played all over Europe and featured in a Channel 4 documentary. It also featured on BBC Radio 3 “Mixing It” program and recorded for Mary Anne Hobbs’s show at Maida Vale, London.


Lauren Kinsella

  • Senior Lecturer in Voice

  • A vocalist, composer, bandleader and educator in the UK, Ireland and more recently across Europe.

  • She regularly appears on radio stations such as BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Scotland, RTE Lyric FM, Jazz FM and Sverigesradio (Sweden).

  • She performs with and writes for: her own quintet, Thought-Fox; The Bears with bassist Chris Hyson; Blue-Eyed Hawk; whose debut album will be released on Edition Records in 2014; and she collaborates in duos with Swiss drummer Alex Huber and Loop Collective pianist Dan Nicholls.

  • She has been awarded several residencies over the last few years including spending time in Ireland, Poland and later this year in France developing improvisational techniques with instrumentalists, dancers and visual artists.


Ivo Neame

  • Principal Lecturer in Piano at Leeds College of Music.

  • Ivo is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. As a pianist, he has made notable contributions to some of the finest jazz groups based in the UK

  • He has also played on more than 40 albums as a sideman and a leader.

  • Ivo's most recent album Yatra was released to universal critical acclaim

  • He won a MOBO in 2011 for Best Jazz Act with the Kairos Quartet, and album of the year 2010 in various publications for Phronesis. He has also been nominated for a host of other awards.
