Our alumni go on to win awards, tour and record as part of bands and ensembles, and have diverse careers in and out of the music industry.


Roller Trio

  • Graduates James Mainwaring (saxophone), Luke Wynter (guitar), and Luke Reddin-Williams (drums)

  • They won the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award in 2011 and their critically acclaimed debut album made the Mercury Prize shortlist for ‘Album of the Year’ in 2012; that same year were also nominated for MOBO's Best Jazz Act.


Jon Gomm

  • A singer-songwriter and performer and has been described as ‘one of the world’s most gifted and inspirational guitar players

  • Using a single acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, bass lines and melodies simultaneously, his songs draw on a range of influences and styles including blues, soul, rock and even metal


Nikki Iles

  • Studied at LCoM from 1981-1984

  • a much celebrated jazz pianist, composer and educator

  • In 1996, Iles won the John Dankworth Special Award at the BT Jazz Festival.

  • Additionally, she has published several books of jazz piano music for Oxford University Press and Faber and is a key member of the team at The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, developing an exciting new series of graded exams for jazz horns
