Brian Morrell

  • Principal Lecturer at Leeds College of Music.

  • As a composer his music has featured in television, radio, film and theatre.

  • Has composed documentary music for Sky, BBC, Channel 4 and other broadcasters (shows include World In Action, Panorama, Dispatches).

  • As an orchestrator he has been involved in many high-level pop tours, theatre shows and films.

  • Brian has recently finished the third volume of a series of books entitled ‘How Film and TV Music Communicate’. These have had 35,000 downloads to date and have been critically acclaimed. He is now embarking on a new book entitled ‘How Pop Music Communicates’.



Jonathan Armandary

  • Senior Lecturer & FE Progress Tutor

  • Having studied under the likes of Brian Morell (Elton John, Kate Bush) and BAFTA nominated Neil Myers, Jonathan has since worked on a multitude of projects but has a particular focus on film (both short and feature).

  • In 2013 Jonathan won “Best Score in a Short” from the Southampton International Film Festival for his work on “Reboot”.

  • In 2014 he won “Best Soundtrack” at the Aotearoa Surf Film Festival for his work on “The Salt Trail”.

  • Jonathan performs regularly across the UK with his band, the Nigel Passey Band – an acoustic rock band signed with The Animal Farm.


Andy Barraclough

  • Lecturer at Leeds College of Music

  • Andy has been composing and arranging orchestral film music for over 10 years.

  • His colleagues describe him as someone who appears to have had a traditional classical upbringing and then turned left into film music.

  • His skills in MIDI orchestration and mixing techniques fool the most avid listeners and he receives regular contact from professionals requesting advice.

  • Andy has built up an extensive and varied portfolio of work, which can and has been highly regarded by his peers, film directors and composers.
