Adrian Kirkpatrick

  • Curriculum Leader for Music Business

  • Has previously specialised in artist management, accountancy, and event, tour and festival Stage Management, including Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park and Roskilde

  • As an educationalist he has written various degrees for institutions including the University of Salford, Leeds Beckett University, and the University of Bolton.

  • His entrepreneurial interests in the music industry include music law; intellectual property and copyright; innovation and strategic planning; music as a digital and social model; the relevance of record companies; and new means of online distribution.

  • He continues to advise within higher education and the music industry and recently was the contract adviser for national and international acts for Sony Music Entertainment as well as consulting on Kickstarter funding campaigns and continuing to consult on international tours and appearances.


Andrew Potterton

  • Senior Lecturer at Leeds College of Music

  • After graduating from LCoM, Andrew’s first roles were in music events promotion, while DJing and releasing music on his own label.

  • Andrew’s notable achievements to date have been music credits on: The Oprah Winfrey Show, MTV Cribs, WWE and WWF Wrestling TV shows, BBC’s Top Gear and The One Show, ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here, The Discovery Channel and National Geographic TV networks.

  • He has worked in theatre, contemporary dance, film production and music events for over ten years and has been helping musicians develop their careers for the last 5 years.


Nick Simcock

  • Lecturer in Music Business at Leeds College of Music

  • Nick works as a festival director, venue manager and mini-label co-founder

  • As a promoter he worked on early shows for the huge wave of indie artists who came through in 2005, including Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles and The Bravery

  • Co-founded Dead Young Records, a record label and promotions company, A&R-ing and promoting shows for a diverse range of acts.

  • Nick is currently the in-house promoter at Leeds bar Oporto, and also works on the production for Communion events, End of the Road and Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia


Sally Rodgers

  • Senior Lecturer at Leeds College of Music

  • One half of the electronic music duo A Man Called Adam, whose titles have been  licensed for many best-selling compilation series, and on major television shows and advertisements such as ‘Sex and The City’, ‘House’, Chase Manhattan, Chrysler and Kellogg’s.

  • Co-director of Other Records Ltd, managing the licensing, distribution and sales of the A Man Called Adam catalogue, their sound design work, and their installation and performance projects under the name Discrete Machines.

  • As a successful self-employed artist and businesswoman she has first-hand experience, from both the artist and label perspectives, in many aspects of the music industry from performance, production, promotion, distribution and licensing.
