Studio bookings are made online via the Celcat site and are managed by the Studio Technicians. Each year group is given an allowance of time they can book during a term, which is then limited to a number of hours per week, and per session. Use your time wisely, and don't leave bookings to the last minute as it can get very busy! You can book rooms within 24 hours notice and this won't come out of your allowance.
During your enrolment, all first years have the opportunity to attend a studio induction where you will get to meet the technical staff and be introduced to the rules and regulations of the facilities.
You will be given the chance to sign the Studio Agreement, a contract that means you can book and use the studios and its equipment freely, and that you understand you are responsible for the rooms and all the equipment you are using.
If you are unable to attend the studio induction, please contact the Studio Technicians and we will arrange one for a more convenient time.
Any equipment you need for the studios can be borrowed from the Studio Counter, located on the ground floor, around the corner from reception as long as you have signed the Studio Agreement. You use your student ID card to get the equipment you need, in the same way you would get a book from the Library.
We have a huge stock of microphones, cables, cameras adapters and other items that will be useful to you in the studios and other rooms around the conservatoire.
You can find the technicians at the Studio Counter, and if they're not there, try ringing the doorbell for attention or contacting us by another way
The technicians are there to help you if you're struggling in the studio, or to offer advice on which microphone to use. They are always up for a technical conversation, so don't be afraid to ask for their assistance
