Guy Scarlett (BSc (Hons), PGCE, CertMgmt (Open)) has been Head of Further & Continuing Education since 2008 and is also the Course Leader for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Music Technology. He previously held roles as a part-time lecturer, a music technology coordinator and Assistant Head of Music Production at Leeds College of Music.
Guy's teaching has covered all areas of music technology, with particular specialism in recording and production techniques, digital audio theory, acoustics, audio-visual theory and popular music studies.
With a background in popular music, electronics and computing, he studied music technology over several years gaining a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology along with the Fox's Prize for Music Technology, followed by a BSc (Hons) Music Technology first class and the Grover Prize for Music Technology.
As a freelancer Guy has run an audio production company, composed for film, engineered for the Leeds International Music Festival, provided audio consultancy, and worked in stage management, production and engineering with artists as diverse as Lesley Garrett, Robbie Glover and Mark Joseph. He is also a reviewer of music production books for Focal Press. Guy plays guitar and composes in his own time, and has a keen interest in cinema past and present.
