About Inter-Library Loans (ILL) Service
The Inter Library Loan service allows all Staff, HE and Postgraduate students (FE students with tutors approval) access to items not held in the conservatoire library. Items are borrowed for you from other UK libraries. You may apply to borrow books, theses, music, and obtain copies of journal articles using the online order suggestion form via your library account .
Please note: Other media, sound recordings, video etc cannot normally be borrowed through ILL (Inter Library Loans). There is no charge to you for this service.

How long does it take?
No definite answer can be given as each item can be sourced form a different location. Applications will normally be processed within three working days, but please bear in mind that we need to locate the item that you require and make an application to borrow it. We are then dependent on the lending library to deal promptly with our request.
We always suggest that you should make you request to the library as early as possible.
What happens when the item arrives at Leeds College of Music?
You will be notified by your conservatoire email when your item has arrived. It will be held for you to collect from the library counter for no longer than 7 days.
How long can I keep it?
Initial loan periods vary. The usual loan period is two weeks, but the library will confirm on collection of the item.
Can I renew an Inter Library Loan book?
Renewal is usually possible, depending on the policy of the lending library. Items that have been renewed are subject to immediate recall if they are requested by borrowers at the lending library.
