Information for Postgraduate Students

Membership

If you have enrolled as a postgraduate student at Leeds College of Music, your conservatoire ID card acts as your Library card and provides you with access to many resources and services. Read here for information on borrowing You will receive a library password by email during your first week and you can use this to manage your online library account.


Postgraduate Suite

If you are a postgraduate student, the Library has a study suite especially for you. Situated towards the rear of the Library, the Suite has both group and silent study areas with several PCs.

You will need to know the combination code for the lock on the door. If you don't know this please ask at the library counter.


Induction for all

During the first few weeks, you will have the opportunity to attend a library induction where you will meet the library team and be introduced to the library resources and services available to you during your duration of course. If for any reason you miss this please email the library and we will arrange an induction session for you.

Reading Lists

We have put together reading lists on the Library Catalogue that relate to your postgraduate studies indicative reading list on Space.


Reference Online Management Tool

Keeping track of all of the articles, books and reports use in research and assignments can be difficult. Referencing management tools can help.

RefMe is a free web-based reference management tool to generate citations, reference lists and bibliographies‌. Available on Web, iOS and Android, you or your students can manage your work across multiple devices.

Information about our resources and services are available in our Library Handbook and E-Resource Handbook. You can pick one up at our library counter or download one here.
 


Online Tutorials

The Library has a collection of tutorials to help you get started on using resources, facilities and services that the library provides. Tutorials range from how to use search the Library Catalogue, How to use a vinyl player, using online streaming databases or how to search the reference database Oxford Music Online.

SCONUL Access

As a postgraduate student you will be able to join the SCONUL Access is a scheme which allows many university users to visit many other university libraries to borrow or use books and journals which belong to the scheme. It is the largest borrowing and reference scheme in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

WHAT IF THE LIBRARY DOESN'T HAVE WHAT I REQUIRE?

If we do not have an item you require for your course, you can place a request using the online form on your library account for the library to purchase, or obtain via Inter-library loans.
