Library Overdue Fines and Invoices

Fines are charged for overdue items. Please return or renew items promptly. If items are returned late charges will be incurred at the following rates:

All loan types 20p per item per day

Outstanding fines must be paid before you can borrow again.

Please speak to Library staff as soon as possible if you have any queries or problems with overdues or fines

You can pay fines in person at the library counter. We accept all major credit/debit cards but a charge of 30p will be added and we only accept this payment method with fines £5.00 and over.

Please be aware of Invoices:

  • If you do not return your overdue items within 3 weeks the replacement cost of each item is automatically added onto your account and an invoice is sent out to you

  • Once items are returned these replacement costs will be removed and you will only pay the fines remaining and a £5 admin charge.

How to pay a fine or invoice

During library opening hours you can pay off any fines, admin charges and invoices at the library counter.

Lost or damaged items

If you lose or damage library items that are issued to you, please tell the library counter staff immediately.  For damaged or lost items that are not found, you will be expected to pay the replacement cost or replace like for like.
If resources become very overdue without having been reported as lost, you will receive an invoice for the replacement cost.

How to avoid fines:

►  Check the stamp date on your library loan items and renew if required

►  Check your online library account for return dates and renew if required

►  Check your email for library return reminders and renew if required

►  If your item is late, return it as soon as possible to keep your fine low

►  Contact us if you have a problem by visiting the library, to discuss your options
