This year we forged a partnership with award-winning 2-day festival 'Sound City' in Liverpool - which meant, the largest UK conservatoire joined forces with the UK's best metropolitain festival.
Sunday 29 May saw five of our bands perform on The Cargo stage, with a festival line-up which included Horsebeach, Bill Ryder-Jones, The Dandy Warhols and The Coral.
“We’re very proud of this partnership, giving our musicians the opportunity to work with industry professionals is at the forefront of our learning goals” said Danny Cope. Pop music Curriculum Leader at the conservatoire. “It’ll be brilliant to see them on a bill with the likes of Hot Chip, The Dandy Warhols and The Coral”.
LCoM is renowned for its innovative approach to the conservatoire learning model, which focusses on specialised study and professional development, and this partnership is another string to their commercially-thinking bow.
Crowned ‘Best Metropolitan Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards, Liverpool’s Sound City is an incredible showcase of live music and arts, showcasing emerging musicians alongside major artists, and has given huge amounts of support to new acts and students working with them. LCoM band KELL features guitarist Tim Malkin who also performs with Fizzy Blood, a band who have had the full Sound City support and toured to Korea on their Zandari Festival line-up.
