TC-Helicon Vocal Day

Brand Partners

Founded in 2000 and based in Victoria, Canada, TC-Helicon is the only pro audio company 100% dedicated to providing creativity and control to singers. United by the belief that the voice is the most beautiful instrument in the world, its team of musicians and developers spend every moment of their working lives interacting with singers – and those who share the passion for the singing voice – to create a range of innovative products that respect and empower the modern vocalist.

This is why we love our relationship with the company, we share the same views and passion for the voice.
In celebration of these views, we’re bringing the first ever TC-Helicon Vocal Day to Leeds College of Music. On Thursday 8 October, the conservatoire’s venue spaces will be taken over by industry experts, leading artists and tech wizardry. Tom Lang and Whitney Myer will be joining us to give a masterclass and demo on voice control, exploring the value of vocal processing in music.  They’ll also be giving a workshop on harmony and looping effects, and students will have some studio time in our in-house studios exploring studio effects with the TC-Helicon team.
Our vocal and performance tutors – Dane Chalfin and Craig Lees,– are also regular contributors to TC-Helicon's online publication, VoiceCouncil Magazine.
As well as this, a full gear expo will take place, showcasing the entire range of TC-Helicon products, including VoiceLive Touch 2, VoiceLive Play, Play Acoustic, Play Electric, VoiceLive 3, VoiceSolo FX150, TC-Helicon microphones, and more. VoiceCouncil Magazine editor Gregory A. Barker will be on hand with Tom and Whitney to answer questions from vocalists and production students taking part in the day, who will also receive TC-Helicon’s ‘Ultimate Guide to Singing’ book with contributions from over 100 top international industry professionals and a TC-Helicon MP-75 microphone featuring their Mic Control button that lets performers trigger their TC-Helicon effects from the microphone as well as their pedals.
More about our guests:
Tom Lang’s career has spanned everything from international headlining tours for up to 40,000 rabid fans to playing postage-stamp sized stages. By day he’s a product manager at TC-Helicon, where his singing experience and extensive use of audio products provides invaluable feedback on performance in diverse environments. Tom regularly sings and plays guitar, keyboards and fiddle in several bands. Listen to Tom's brand new album, ‘Super Sonic’ just released at CD Baby.
Whitney Myer jetted on to the scene after wowing Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice” in 2012, after her show stopping rendition of Alicia Keys “No One” turned the chairs of all four judges in a frenzy to claim her for their teams. Later that year Whitney released her first solo EP “The Articles of Luminous Nature” which highlights not only her soulful voice but also her focused musical prowess as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, experimenting for the first time with electronic elements that could be recreated for live performances.
Gregory A. Barker, PhD (editor) is the Commissioning Editor of VoiceCouncil Magazine, the leading on-line publication for emerging vocal artists.  He is also the Commissioning Editor of The Vintage Musician and The Mobile Musician.  Greg is also a published author with Oxford University Press and several other publishers.  He’s been involved in educational and business projects in Taiwan, Pakistan, Denmark, the United Kingdom and North America, collaborating with leaders in the Music Industry, businesses and individuals on their quest to reach their audience and their personal dreams.
The TC-Helicon Vocal Day is on Thursday 8 october 2015, 10:00am - 6:00pm.
