Alumni message from Gerry Godley

Introducing our new Principal and Managing Director

A few words from our new Principal and Managing Director, Gerry Godley:

"Gerry Godley here, Principal at Leeds College of Music since September, having taken the reins from Professor Phillip Meaden, who achieved so much for the conservatoire during his time here.

"I come to you from Dublin, where I had previously been involved in curating festivals, producing concerts and broadcasting, and a particular focus over the last decade has been emerging jazz artists from across Europe. Appropriately, some of them came from Leeds – bands like Trio VD and Matthew Bourne – alerting me some years ago to the fact that the city is a powerhouse of musical creativity.

"Now that I’m here, I’m learning more about that every day, and understanding Leeds College of Music’s place in that musical fabric, across all genres and none. As I settle into the role, I hope we’ll get a chance to meet at some point in the not too distant future, and I can hear about your part of the Leeds College of Music mosaic."
