Settling into student life

Throughout enrolment and induction week, Student Services staff will be in the bar area getting to know new students, and welcoming returning students.  Look out for our stall where you can pick up lots of useful information, or just come to say ‘hello’.  Bring your questions, and we’ll do our best to answer them!

Student Services is based in room 401, and this is the place to visit if you have questions about student finance, bursaries, a disability or medical condition, health and wellbeing, student accommodation, or if you need to speak to someone confidentially about any issues you are having.

Moving into Joseph Stones House

We look forward to welcoming new students to Joseph Stones House over the weekends of 10/11 and 17/18 September. Over the weekends, our friendly Student Union Exec will be on hand to help you move your boxes, and Student Services Staff will be there to answer any questions you or your parents may have.

Registering with a doctor

One of the first things on your ‘to do’ list is to register with a doctor in Leeds. This is very easy to do; Leeds Student Medical Practice staff will be in the bar area throughout the days when new HE students enrol. This is a student-focused practice about a 15 minute walk from the conservatoire.

Moving away to study is exciting, but it can be overwhelming for some students. If you’re finding things a bit difficult in the first few weeks, talking it over with someone at the conservatoire will certainly help. The Student Services Team are available Monday to Friday; pop into room 401 and have a chat. Be assured that feeling a bit wobbly is quite normal at the start of term!

Meningitis Vaccination

In September you will be mmixing closely with lots of new people, some of whom may unknowingly carry the meningococcal bacteria. This makes you more at risk of getting meningitis. You should see your GP to get a Meningitis ACWY vaccine ideally before starting at the Conservatoire, or as soon as possible after arriving here.
